The HANS device (Head and Neck Support) was developed to prevent neck injuries and skull fractures by restraining your head from snapping forward in the event of an accident. The HANS III represents the third generation of injection molded HANS devices and features a contemporary approach to reducing weight. Using an all new design and polymer, the device features a hollow collar that substantially minimizes weight. Engineered reinforcements ensure an exceptionally strong structure that provides the same level of safety as every HANS device. The reduced mass guarantees the lightest and most comfortable injection molded HANS ever. Two flexible tethers on the collar are attached to the helmet to prevent the head from snapping forward or to the side during a wreck. This dissipates the force of a crash from your neck and distributes it to your shoulders and chest, reducing impact. The Hans Device has proven so effective it has been mandated by virtually all professional racing sanctioning bodies including NASCAR, NHRA, Formula 1, CART, the FIA, and even Monster Trucks. Each HANS Device is sold complete with two quick click attachments (enough for one helmet) and matching tether, which is SFI certified. This is the medium size version with a 20 degree angle.
